Over the course of each 10-week season, the Girls on the Run program, which creatively integrates training for a 5k, explores topics such as healthy friendships, gratitude, empathy and standing up for yourself and others. Participants engage in a transformative journey that extends beyond the track and into their everyday lives. Girls on the Run was acknowledged by the U.S. Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, M.D. as a strong after-school curriculum for girls to improve mental health with benefits of physical activity and critical life skill lessons. After girls completed the Girls on the Run program, participants shared that they learned intentional decision making, conflict resolution and had an overall increase in their level of confidence.
